Know Mercy's service project today was helping at the main campus of Redemption Church, where we are lodged. Redemption Church also serves as a Christian School for K-8th grade. The principal, Chris.....who the kids nicknamed "Chris the Boss Man", led the kids to a storage room for the school. The storage area has been collecting old broken computer equipment, empty boxes, text books, carpet etc. Know Mercy cleared the storage room within an hour.
Later Friday afternoon, KM traveled to the Alabama Baptist Children's (ABC) Home where they keep children (ages up to 18) that have been orphaned or neglected and processed by DHS. Know Mercy unloaded the music equipment and set up as quick as they could and almost at a jog, went to find the kids being lodged at the facility. KM found them at the playground and jumped right in loving each and every one of them. Playing on merry-go-rounds, pushing kids on the swings, climbing tree house, skateboarding and playing some basketball, the kids at ABC and KM were having a blast. When it was time for KM to perform, they started out by teaching the ABC kids "Walking on Water" dance. They all caught on quick!! KM sang and many of the ABC kids knew the words to music....which was so awesome to see and brought tears to many. Everyone was experiencing such joy with the music. There was one young lady that would express confusion after the skits, Trust Fall and Comfort, stating, "Why are you clapping for that" and "that's sad". Brother Casey, did an amazing job preaching, making sure it was on their level and explaining that the young lady was right on!
